As a middle school teacher in a highly collaborative environment necessitating collective teacher efficacy, it was essential for me and my colleagues to leverage our talents in order to cultivate a strong and thriving school culture. With Peter’s regular guidance, we worked to define our strengths as they pertained to our personal and professional lives, and we learned how to foster deeper, more productive strengths-based relationships within our team.

Peter’s genuine care for me and my colleagues was immediately evident as he spent time connecting with us and tailoring his approach to meet our individual needs. By recognizing and celebrating my unique talents, he helped me feel validated as a contributing team member. Furthermore, Peter expertly highlighted a variety of ways in which I could capitalize on my own unique strengths while navigating their complexities. Needless to say, our school culture is healthy and productive because of this.

It is important not only to recognize and acknowledge the strengths that make us special, but to properly exercise them so that they may continue to grow and to bless ourselves and others. Working with Peter helped me gain a clearer sense of who I am and why I matter as an individual as well as part of a team. Exploring my strengths and those of my colleagues within a structured team setting has fostered a trusting environment in which I feel comfortable being vulnerable. Trust and vulnerability are essential ingredients in any relationship, and they contribute to far more productive communication and improved problem solving.
